ADIDAS HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH - PORCH POETRY WITH BAY DAVIS
COMMUNITY ACTIVATION
For Hispanic Heritage Month, Adidas wanted to bring together the community by supporting a select group of creators who are paving the way for the next generation. For this activation, we were lucky enough to collaborate with the incredible Bay Davis who is a multi-disciplinary Afro-Indigenous artist whose work focuses on the liberation and support of the queer and trans community members in South Central LA.
Bay created Porch Poetry, an open mic event that literally took place on the steps of their front porch. The goal was to provide a safe space for people to eat, talk, and express themselves, as well as an avenue to crowd fund. We brought Porch Poetry to life by taking over a local art gallery and giving Bay the reigns to do what they do best - use their voice. They had a say in all the creative direction & design of the event, custom zine we created, hosted the open-mic poetry session, as well as selecting all the performers and vendors to keep it truly in the community. Each performer and vendor showcased the diverse and deep-rooted traditions of their cultures. By creating with purpose and investing in authentic community activations, we forged genuine, lasting bonds with local creators and will continue to amplify their voices.
